Yauba: Real Time Torrent Search Proxy

Have you ever had your favorite torrent site blocked by filtering software installed at school, at work or at the airport’s network? If so, you might want to bookmark Yauba because it may come in handy in the future.

yaubaThe interesting part about Yauba is that the site is not only a real time torrent search engine, but that it also acts as a proxy, allowing you to visit torrent sites even if they are blocked on the local network.

You only have to enter your search query in the box on the left, and select “torrent files” from the dropdown menu on the right and off you go.

The search results can be further refined by file size, category, upload time and the numer of seeds and peers. Once you’ve found the torrent you were looking for Yauba will take you straight to the download page.

A great tool to bypass web filters, as long as the site itself doesn’t end up on one.

I wonder why the Australian version of the site is the only one with a torrent search. Plain yauba.com and uk.yauba.com don’t have it, nor do any of the non-English version as far as I can tell.

    • That’s interesting, hadn’t noticed that…

Perhaps because the Aussies are the most avid torrenters?

    • Excuse me, US, UK, Italy, and France are the only ones without it. I didn’t look hard enough the first time. Still odd, though.

      • Yeah, I guess it’s not on purpose..

    Ernesto, this is AWESOME!!!!

Thanks for this find … you should write it up on the main Torrentfreak site. Bye bye Google for me.

    • I’m glad you like it :)
