Warner Music Dumps Spotify and All Streaming Services
Successful streaming services like Spotify are set to be dumped by Warner Music since they are “clearly not positive for the industry”.
The hugely popular Spotify and other services being used to tempt file-sharers away from “the dark side” have been dealt a blow.
Warner Music, one of the Big Four labels, says that it will stop licensing its music for use on all streaming services.
“Free streaming services are clearly not net positive for the industry and as far as Warner Music is concerned will not be licensed,” said chief executive Edgar Bronfman Jr.
“The get all your music you want for free, and then maybe with a few bells and whistles we can move you to a premium price strategy, is not the kind of approach to business that we will be supporting in the future,” he added.
Yet again a big label shoots itself in the foot. The question is, when will the rest follow?

“”The number of potential subscribers [aka pirates] dwarfs the number of people who are actually purchasing music on iTunes,” Mr Bronfman said.”
Fans could pay a monthly fee direct to a streaming service, as with Spotify, or get access to the music as part of a deal for a mobile phone, broadband connection or another gadget. [And providers have been trying to do this for years but the labels have never been co-operative!]
Such subscriptions could be taken up by “hundreds of millions if not billions of people, most of whom are not today either buyers or certainly heavy buyers of music”, Mr Bronfman said.
Hum, let’s see… No free streaming, only paying solutions who’s business model must be in line with the labels and not the consumers’ interests… Isn’t this what we had 4-5 years ago?
According to numerous articles on TorrentFreak, streaming services hurt artists and P2P supports artists. If so, down with streamers and go P2P! (No sarcasm intended.)
Well, I didn’t use streaming services because my connection isn’t good for… Streaming… But I was very sympathetic to those as means to replace p2p as a discovery method regarding music.
As pointed up there, a blast on their own feet.

“We’re going to continue our campaign of raising the importance of stopping children from having fun on the Internet.” Warner didn’t say in a statement last night at the Annual Greed Conference.
In other news, Warner, being 100% consistent, have also banned all radio stations from broadcasting their crap and letting people listen for free.
Oh, wait …
Well I guess I will have to back to downloading them.
The CORRECT paths to buying and selling music are
1) list the song on iTune for .99 cent.
2) the artist list their own songs on their own site for sale (with exclusive pictures).
3) buy 2 songs get 1 free.
The WRONG way to make money with music:
1. Suit your customers for sharing (I wonder why they stop buying)!
2. Overprice songs/album
3. Whine like a lilo baby
