Torrent-Outpost Shuts Down
Torrent-Outpost, a medium sized private BitTorrent tracker has mysteriously disappeared a few days ago. Initially the site seemed to be struggling with technical issues, but since yesterday the domain redirects to a parked page hosted by Sedo.
The site’s members, who have not been informed about this drastic move, have been desperately trying to find answers but thus far none of the admins have commented in public. The reason for the tracker’s closure will remain a mystery for now.
It seems inevitable that former Outpost members will have to find a new home. A list of private BitTorrent trackers that allow new members to sign up can be found at Btracs or Filesharingz.
I heard the owners were fighting over the money-donations. They took it and ran.
where did you hear that from, is the source reliable, or is it just a rumour that you are repeating?
Never heard of that site. Pity though.
I feel sorry for anyone who donated a lot of money to that site. I never did, but then, I never downloaded a lot, and always was a good seeder, so I didn’t need to.

As a former member of staff i can tell you exactly what happened in a nutshell. Several staff members left to create their own site because of the owners of TO becoming lazy. Pushing off their duties to others and not doing nightly uploads until hours after pre times. Torrent outpost made over 5,000$ on donations for the month of july and yet they kept refreshing their donations bar each month. They lost staff and didn’t want to fix the problems so they shut down and ran. If you don’t believe me try and refund your paypal donation and you will get banned by them. :) hope this helps

Now I know why I never donate money to websites, be they sites like Torrent Outpost or just chat forums begging for money.

I heard this from the all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-herring J.R. Bob Dobbs, slackmaster and doublefalseprophet; Torrent Outpost is at least the third incarnation of a tracker lark which nets fair bounty considering what’s involved. Two voices were heard on vent/TS servers. Two voices heard on vent/TS linked to other trackers. The same two voices on 3 subsequent trackers.
