The Young Liberals, the third biggest youth party in Germany advised its members to ignore the Pirate Party and not give them any air time. “[They] currently get enough publicity and good press” says the message, available on Wikileaks.

Being an Ostrich never won an election and with Federal elections less than 2 months away, they seem to be desperate not to loose ground to the new party.

The strong showing in the EU elections in June may well have scared them, although with only 1% then, they are hardly a direct challenge to the Young Liberals or their parent party, the Free Democratic Party, which picked up 10% of the votes, and 12 seats.
