Singapore Rules Out 3 Strikes For Pirates – For Now

Last week it was reported that Singpore is among the latest additions to the list of countries considering 3 Strikes-style sanctions for illicit file-sharers. Now the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore has ruled that out.

File-sharers in Singapore can rest easy for now, after government officials denied earlier reports that it would implement a graduated response for copyright infringement.

In a statementIntellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) spokeswoman Clara Wee said:

“IPOS is not considering the introduction of such laws at the moment. Few countries have introduced such measures, and we will continue to monitor how these evolve before considering any such introduction here.”
