Docs.Torrent.Ro Returns as DocsPedia

docspediaDocs.torrents.ro has been one of the most respected e-learning BitTorrent trackers. The site closed earlier this year due to a financial crisis, but returns now under a new name.

This spring docs.torrents.ro went offline after the team failed to get enough money together to pay the server fees. The tracker has always refused to take donations from users although many were willing to contribute.

The shutdown of the tracker was a huge blow to the thousands of users. “I owe most of my programming knowledge to them and I think I’m not the only one,” one passionate user told us at the time, mourning the loss of one of his favorite trackers.

This week brought good news for the site’s former users though. Docs.torrents.ro has re-opened using the domain Docspedia. The site’s team has installed a database backup of the old site so the user accounts are still working, and no forum topics have been lost.

DocsPedia is currently open for registration with 20,000 free spots.

  • Why didn’t they just use the old domain name? Always wondered about sites who do stuff like that.

  • docs.torrents.ro is actually a sub domain of torrents.ro and it works just fine only that now is redirecting the site to the new domain. We’ve just gave DOCS his OWN domain, as docspedia.org . The same thing happened with tv.torrents.ro . It is still Tv.Torrents.Ro but it has it’s own domain: freshon.tv . The new domains are just a way of saying: “Hey, we go international !”. I don’t get what is it with these people who wonder of any stupid thing and try to find something where there is nothing else.

And btw, DOCS wasn’t shut in april because we couldn’t “aford” the server costs. Since we had our own machine we just didn’t wanted to give it up and host the site on a ISP server. Sadly the former host of our server wasn’t able to keep it anymore and we didn’t found someone else to trust and give the server into custody. After a couple of weeks we did managed to find something, but it took a little longer than we’ve anticipated to put into practice another old plan we had before the shutdown: to move to a better customized traker source. Actually a new tracker code was also implemented in the same time on tv.torrents.ro .

As for not accepting any financial help, I assure You We’re doing just fine on our own. We don’t want to be conditioned for advertising something or to offer advantages to some users who can afford it, by discriminating those who can’t, just for a couple of dollars or euros. Every member has the same privileges, which is FAIR SHARING. What would happen to this concept if we’d do compromises just for getting money out of it? I strongly believe our statement is more powerful if we are independent of any other third party will.

  • Could anyone please be able to send me an invite? It would be greatly appreciated.
